Sesame Oil Chicken

Sesame Oil Chicken is a traditional dish that automatically reminds us of home💖 It is both healthy, delicious and surprisingly, very easy to make too😄 Let Mazola give you the recipe of this wonderful dish using Mazola’s Sesame Oil😉⬇ A wiser and healthier choice always✨

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 chicken (800-900g)
  • 1.5 tablespoons of oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of Chinese cooking wine (Shaoxing/Huatiao wine)
  • 2 teaspoons of cornflour
  • Juice from 1 thumb size ginger (retain the pulp after juicing)
  • 1/3 cup of sesame oil
  • 2 thumb size ginger – smashed
  • 3 cloves of garlic – minced
  • Pulp of juiced ginger (as above)
  • Marinated chicken
  • 1 can of button mushrooms
  • 1/3 cup of Chinese rice wine
  • Brine from a can of button mushrooms
  • 2 tablespoons of low sodium light soya sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of premium dark soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon of chicken stock powder
  • 1 teaspoon of sugar
  • Some corn-starch solution to thicken
  • 1 tablespoon of Chinese cooking wine

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a large bowl, add spring chicken, Oyster sauce, Shaoxing Chinese Cooking Wine, cornflour  and Juice from 1 thumb size ginger (retain the pulp after juicing). 
  2. Mix them well and marinate in the refrigerator for approximately 1 hour.
  3. To cook the chicken, heat up the clay pot or pan. Add 1/3 cup of Mazola Sesame Oil, smashed ginger and slowly pan fry them for about 8 – 10 minutes.
  4. Add 3 cloves of chopped garlic and the remaining pulp of the ginger juice prepared earlier.
  5. Add the marinated chicken into the claypot. Give it a stir.
  6. Add water into the remaining marinated sauce and pour it into the claypot. Stir for 5 minutes. Add in 1/3 cup of Chinese rice wine.
  7. Add brine of button mushrooms, 2 tbsp light soya sauce, 1 tbsp of oyster sauce and 1 tbsp of dark soya sauce. Stir them well. Add 1 can of button mushrooms, simmer for 15 minutes.
  8. Add 0.5 teaspoon of chicken stock powder, 1 tbsp of dark soya sauce. Stir them well. Add 1 tsp of sugar. Add cornstarch solution to thicken the sauce.
  9. Lastly, add 1 tbsp of Chinese cooking wine.
